Framing an Organisation

Councillor's daughter loses fraudulent bursary

The Bojanala Platinum District Municipality in Rustenburg offers financial assistance to children from poor families who have excellent academic results. This year 25 students benefited from a total of R1.6-million.Among them was 28-year-old Carol Montsho, a political science student at Unisa and daughter of Nkone Montsho, a Madibeng Local Municipal councillor.According to bursary policy, children, spouses and next-of-kin of municipality employees and officials are not eligible. An investigation followed complaints by Bojanala residents to the office of Public Protector Thuli Madonsela regarding the alleged fraud.District municipality spokesman Archie Babeile yesterday said the bursary committee has cancelled the bursary and asked for the repayment of the money already paid to Unisa.(http://www.sowetanlive.co.za/news/2012/08/08/councillor-s-daughter-loses-fraudulent-bursary)
Helping poor kids is the right thing to do,but this 28 year old is neither a kid nor poor. Question is - is anybody going to get fired (or at least redeployed) . I am glad that :
  • District municipality spokesman Archie Babeile said the bursary committee has cancelled the bursary and asked for the repayment of the money already paid to Unisa.
I am sure we can get to an agreement that the decision that was taken is very relevant to the situation. How did the spokesperson framed their Organidation?

  3. Madonsela must investigate the whole of NW, there's a lot of looting going on there and the lives of community members are not improving in any way, poor service delivery is the result of corrupt municipal managers.

Probe all district and local municipalities from Rusternburg, Taung, Vryburg all the way deep to small municipalities...u will be shocked

  4. Yah...Yah...Yah!!! Greed and more greed!!! These are the people we have entrusted are votes with and subsequently gave them power to abuse us!!! A I am urging the Bojanala District Municipality residents to preasurise the Council to open up fraud charges against Honourable Clr Nkone Montsho and all officials involved (Including the CFO as he/she is the Chief Accountant of the Finances of the Municipality). Let punishment be consistent: Other leading officials in the ANC did the honourable thing by resigning. Let's hope Clr Montsho will also follow suit. The road to Mangaung has begun!!!

  5. Corrupting their children now. This student Carol Montsho is surely not going to tell us she didnt know , if I'm right. Thanks to Madonsela's investigation though the childish and always denying Fikile Mbalula sarcastically praised you of enthusiasm. Its a pity Madonsela has no mandate to prosetute.

  11. Is a shame to see how corruption take place in this country. If the justice is served well done then, poor people are waiting for bursaries while others are not doing there job well.

  14. This has to do with selfishness.I think that the Councillor's daughter is one the people who does not want to see unfortunate people going forward but always begging from them.I think that someone has to fired,CASE CLOSED.

  16. It is good to see justice prevailing especially within the government sector. This also goes to show that it is not only Carol who has had an illegal bursary but many. I think the spokesperson's comment portrayed the company in a good way because he showed that the matter is being handled or under control. Proper procedure should be followed in firing the person responsible.
